Halloween Dance
The Halloween Dance on Friday was a huge success! It was wonderful to see so many parents and family members attend, support the event, and join in the fun by dressing up. A special thank you to our School Council for organizing this fantastic event and helping create such a fun and memorable experience for our students and families.
Thank you as well to our teachers for their hard work in completing and displaying students’ artwork in the Grand Hall. The beautiful displays created a welcoming atmosphere and showcased our students’ creativity and talents!
First CAD and Volunteers Needed
The first CAD today was a huge success! Students had fun exploring different interests, meeting new teachers, and making new friends along the way. The experience provided opportunities to learn new skills, build connections, and engage with different areas of interest. It was wonderful to see students embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and curiosity! Thank you so much to our parent volunteers for helping make our first CAD such a success! Your support, enthusiasm, and willingness to share your time helped create a fun and memorable experience for our students.
Parents who have their police check and volunteer forms are invited to help out for some of the activities. CAD takes place from 8:35-9:15 on Oct 30, Nov 6, Jan 15, and Feb 19. Grade 3 Celebration of Learning
Our Grade 3 classes had their Celebration of Learning this week.
Students shared their insights of the land with Personal Land Acknowledgments that demonstrated where student commitments to understanding and caring for our land. They also shared the sit spots in the natural area that help provide authentic connections to the land.
The students explored identity and emotions to enhance their social emotional learning through the story 'The Snurtch' by Sean Ferrell. The students reflected on their own emotional well-being and social/emotional understanding, creating personalized versions of what their snurch would like and how this knowledge helps them identify and manage their emotions. The celebration 'Today I Am Going to try to Change the World'.
Thank you to all of the Grade 3 parents who were able to attend!
Grade 2 Wet Felting
Our Grade 2 students recently explored the art of wet felting, a traditional fiber art process that uses wool, warm water, and gentle friction to create fabric. Students learned about the properties of wool and practiced patience, creativity, and fine motor skills as they transformed loose wool fibers into unique felted designs. This hands-on activity encouraged artistic expression while connecting students to a craft with a rich cultural history. We are proud of the creativity and perseverance our Grade 2 students demonstrated throughout the process. Thank you parent volunteers, for your help and support!
Reminder of Respectful Behaviour Toward Staff
When you are dropping off and picking up students, please respect the staff who are supervising the bus and 'Hug and Go' zones. Parents are expected to engage with CBE employees honestly, respectfully and in good faith, recognizing employees have professional responsibilities to balance the needs, rights and safety of all students (Administrative Regulation: Responsibilities of Parents). Thank you for your attention to this.
