Farewell Again - Staffing Update
It is time for me to say farewell once again to the Panorama Hills School community. I have thoroughly enjoyed being back at PHS as your Acting Principal. This is truly a special place, made so by our wonderful students, supportive parents, and dedicated staff.
Thank you all so much for your kindness and warm welcome during my time back at this school. It has been a pleasure to reconnect with the community and to be part of such a special school once again.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Trudi Tallerico, who will be taking over as Acting Principal at PHS. Some of you may remember Ms. Tallerico, who worked at PHS when Mr. Jeffrey first went on leave last year. I know you will make her feel just as welcome as you have made me feel.
Thank you once again for making my time at Panorama Hills School so enjoyable. I wish you all the very best and look forward to hearing about the continued success of this wonderful school community.
Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Results
A printed copy of your child’s Literacy and Numeracy assessments report will be coming home on October 27th in a sealed envelope. These assessments do not replace day-to-day teacher observations and classroom assessment and do not have any impact on formal reporting processes such as report cards. Rather, the results help inform planning for next steps such as targeted interventions or instructional planning and are not used to determine grades.
There are a number of ways you can learn more about your child’s learning, progress, and achievement. For more information, please see: How is My Child Doing in School? Please speak to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about their learning.
Grade 3 Celebration of Learning Assembly
Our Grade 3 students are excited to share an assembly centered around kindness and gratitude. Through music, writing, and creative artwork, students will reflect on the importance of showing appreciation, setting meaningful goals, and understanding their emotions through a couple of grade-wide projects. Together, we hope to inspire our school community to remember the power that each of us have to make a positive difference in the world.
The assembly will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, in our school gym. Parents and caregivers are invited to join us and celebrate the learning and accomplishments of our Grade 3 students. We look forward to seeing you there!
Safety - Scooters
For students who ride scooters to school, we would like to remind them about the importance of safety. Students must wear a properly fitted helmet whenever they are riding a scooter. We also ask students to slow down when approaching the school, on the sidewalks and pathways, and be mindful of other students, families, and staff. Thank you for your support in helping keep our school community safe.
Digital Citizenship and Educational Technology Information
Today, our school's Digital Citizenship Plan will be sent home and will also be posted on our school website for your reference. In addition, teachers will be sending home the Parent/Guardian Notification: Use of Educational Technology letter. This letter provides information about the digital tools and educational technology your child may be using throughout the school year to support learning. We encourage families to review these documents and contact the school if you have any questions.
Blue Dot Days and Cold Weather Reminder
Blue Dot Days are implemented during inclement weather, including when temperatures, taking wind chill into account, reach –20°C or colder, or when the weather is wet and rainy. On Blue Dot Days, doors open at 7:55 a.m., and students may enter the school through any door marked with a blue dot sign.
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather, including a warm winter coat, hat, mittens or gloves, and suitable footwear. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe, warm, and comfortable throughout the school day!
