Non-Instructional Day - Monday, October 19
Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, October 19 as it is a non-instructional day. Teachers will be doing professional learning on this day. We will be looking at our school data to make adjustments to our 2026-2027 School Development Plan, as well as doing collaborative work to discuss ways to best support students.
Last Week of Alien In-Line Skating
The coming week will wrap up our in-line skating residency. This has been a fabulous opportunity for students to participate in in-line skating and develop their skating skills. Students seemed to really enjoy this activity. Thank you so much to our parent volunteers who came out to help with equipment and to our School Council who paid for this residency. It is greatly appreciated to be able to give students opportunities like this.
Parking Lot Safety
For the safety of all students, please do not use the staff parking lot in front of the school for student pick-up at the end of the school day. Students riding the bus use the designated crosswalk in the parking lot to walk safely to their buses, creating a high volume of pedestrian traffic during dismissal. Vehicles moving through the parking lot at this time create a significant safety concern.
Only parents and visitors displaying a valid handicapped parking permit may park in designated handicapped spaces. If you are parked in a handicapped space and see bus students using the crosswalk, please remain stopped and wait until all students have safely crossed and boarded their buses before proceeding.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe dismissal process for all students.
Fire Drill #2
We had our second fire drill this week, and it was a success! Students and staff exited the building in only 2 minutes, showing their familiarity with evacuation procedures and their ability to respond quickly and responsibly during emergency drills!
Community Activity Day
Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who helped sort the CAD shirts! Thanks to their support, every student in our school now has a CAD shirt.
We are excited to begin our first CAD Day on October 30. Students will have many fun and engaging activities to choose from, including pottery, knitting, dance, PE games, Spanish, art projects, marble runs, coloring, and more. Students will make 6 selections, and teachers will eventually place them in one of the selections they picked!
This year, CAD days will be organized into two rounds, with four sessions per round. Sessions will take place on specific Friday mornings from 8:35 to 9:15 a.m.
CAD Days provide a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with peers outside of their regular classrooms while exploring new interests, developing skills, and enjoying unique learning experiences. We look forward to seeing students build new friendships and discover activities they may not have had the chance to try before.
