December 17, 2023 Dear PHS Families, We had a wonderful time celebrating our Grade 2 and 3 learning on Thursday evening. Students presented both work from the classroom and songs from music class as they shared the Holistic Framework. Thank you to all other PHS students who contributed their artwork to our wall displays! French at PHS We currently offer French as a Second Language (FSL) at Panorama Hills School to both Grades 4 and 5 students. As you may know, Captain Nichola Goddard School no longer offers French as an option to any grades. Furthermore, Buffalo Rubbing Stone School does not offer FSL to their students. FSL is not an immersion program but one that primarily focuses on listening and speaking. Currently students spend around 3-4 hours with French either infused into to their day or in specified French blocks where students receive exposure to the language. We are conducting a survey to determine if this is something we will continue to offer at our school. If not, we would be using this time for Language Arts in English. We would like your feedback before making any decisions. Please complete this survey by Friday, December 22nd. Community Walks in Panorama Attached to this weekly communication is a walking letter outlining three walks that teachers often use throughout the school year. When we walk in the community, we are required to let parents know 48 hours in advance. Please take the time to read the attached letter in order to understand the details, locations and possible risks.
