Panorama Hills School News:

‘The Weekly Howl’

February 20, 2026

🐾 Principal’s Message

This past week, many religious and cultural celebrations have taken place. From Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, to Ramadan, Lunar New Year, Maha Shivaratri, and Parinirvana, it’s been a meaningful time for many families. February is also Black History Month, a chance to honour the history and contributions of Black communities. At Panorama Hills School, we’re lucky to be part of a caring, diverse community where everyone brings something special. This week is a great reminder to learn from one another, celebrate our differences, and appreciate the richness of our school and this corner of Calgary. Please have your child share with their teachers or the office any important dates, celebrations, or holidays that are meaningful to your family so we can help recognize and celebrate them.

What a week of weather we’ve had. With gray skies, snow, and a few indoor recesses, it’s been a bit of a blue week, but the students’ energy and smiles have carried us through. We’re all looking forward to some warmer days ahead. Thank you for helping your children dress for the cold, mitts and toques included. Our lost and found is growing fast, so please check to make sure every piece of clothing is making it back home. We don’t want anyone starting a trend of mismatched mitts or lonely toques.

Wishing all our families a restful weekend and a chance to enjoy some time together. We’re looking forward to another great week of learning, laughter, and community at PHS.

📝 Report Cards – February 24, 2026 - Online

Report cards for our students will be available starting February 24, 2026. After May 29, 2026, Semester 1 report cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading, or printing.

Parents and guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, teacher comments, assignments, grades, and attendance. For the best experience, log in through the MyCBE portal rather than the PowerSchool App.

            🎬 Movie Night – Grades K-2

PHS School Council & Society presents Movie Night for students in kindergarten to Grade 2. We will be showing Elio on February 26 at 6:30 pm.

This event is open to all students in K-2 and their siblings. A parent must accompany the child or children for the duration of the movie.

⏰ Attendance and Lates

We realize the weather has been extremely cold lately, but the school is open, and missing days can affect your child’s learning and routine. We appreciate your efforts to have students here on time. On colder days, traffic can be heavier than usual, so leaving a little earlier can help with the flow and reduce the chances of being late. Thank you for supporting your child’s attendance and helping them start each day ready to learn.

👩‍🏫 Staff Update

We are pleased to introduce Ms. Shuk Yin Leung to our school community. Ms. Leung holds a Bachelor of Education in History from The Education University of Hong Kong. She has experience as a Program Lead and Early Childhood Educator and brings a strong background in both classroom instruction and educational resource development. Ms. Leung is bilingual in Mandarin and Cantonese, has been an orchestra member for five years and a violin section teacher, and volunteers with the City of Calgary. We are excited to welcome her and look forward to the strengths and experiences she brings to support student learning, as the music specialist and grade 3 teacher.
