Panorama Hills School Principals’ Message December 2024 Remembrance Day Assembly We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in our Remembrance Day Assembly. This meaningful event provided an opportunity for us to honor and reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans and those who continue to serve for our freedom. A special thank-you to our dedicated teachers and students who worked hard to create such a respectful and thoughtful assembly. Their efforts in preparing presentations, performances, and tributes truly captured the importance of this day. We are also deeply grateful to the parents and families who joined us. Your presence and support help reinforce the significance of remembering and honoring our veterans, fostering a strong sense of community and respect within our school. School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan Each year, schools develop a School Development Plan (SDP) to align with the CBE Three-Year Education Plan while addressing school-specific priorities. Additionally, schools report on their progress and achievements through the School Improvement Results Report annually. We are pleased to share that the 2024-2025 School Development Plan and School Improvement Results Report for Panorama Hills School are now available on our school website. You can view them here: Panorama Hills School Website. Scholastic Book Fair Success and Purdy’s Chocolate Fundraiser We are thrilled to share that the Purdy’s Chocolate Fundraiser and Scholastic Book Fair were a huge success! These initiatives not only help enhance learning experiences for our students but also bring our community together in meaningful ways. A heartfelt thank-you to all the parents and volunteers who generously gave their time and effort to make these events possible. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of our students. We are so grateful for the continued partnership of our amazing school community. Thank you for helping us make these initiatives a success! December School Activities As we approach the holiday season, we want to share some updates about our school events. This year, we will not be holding a winter concert. Instead, we have planned a variety of fun and engaging activities throughout December to celebrate the season and create memorable experiences for our students. · Name That Tune! From December 9th-13th, our school will be hosting a fun and festive activity: Name That Tune! Each day, a holiday song will be played over the PA system. Teachers can call in with their class's guess (be the 4th caller to qualify!). This is a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer and build excitement as we approach the winter break. We can't wait to see how many classes can name that tune! · Classroom Door Decoration Contest We are excited to announce our Classroom Door Decoration Contest to spread some festive cheer as we head into the winter break! Each class will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity by decorating their classroom door with a fun, festive theme. The winning class will be announced on Friday, December 20th, and will receive a special prize to celebrate their hard work and creativity. Student Spirit Week Monday December 16: PHS Spirit Wear Day! Wear your PHS Clothing or the school colours BLUE and YELLOW! Tuesday December 17: Silly Hair or Hat Day! Design your hair as whacky as you'd like OR wear a hat/headband of your choice! Wednesday December 18: Winter Get Away Day! Let's escape from the cold! Wear your hats, sunglasses and sunshine clothing! Thursday December 19: Ugly Holiday Sweater Day! Wear your favourite sweater, beautiful or ugly! Friday December 20: PJ and Stuffie Day! Wear your favourite cozy PJs and your stuffie to snuggle on the last day of school before Winter Break!
Winter Traffic Safety As winter settles in, we’d like to highlight some key reminders to keep our school community safe during this snowy and icy season. Winter weather often brings challenging road conditions and slower travel times. To ensure students arrive safely and on time, we encourage everyone to plan ahead by leaving a little extra time for your morning commute and parking. For those walking or crossing streets, we ask families to use the designated crosswalks and take care when navigating snowy or icy sidewalks. If you are dropping off students, please consider looping around the block if necessary to help maintain a smooth and safe flow of traffic. We’d also like to remind everyone to avoid parking in the bus zone or Hug and Go zone, as these spaces are essential for ensuring the safe arrival and departure of all students. Your cooperation and support in practicing safe driving and pedestrian habits make a significant impact in keeping our community safe. Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming environment during this winter season. Panorama Hills School Council and Society Updates Our next council & society meeting will be at 6:30pm on January 23, at the school and online. Lost and Not Yet Found Our Lost and Found is currently full, with many items, including coats and hoodies, waiting to be claimed. All lost items have been sorted and are on display. If your child is missing any belongings, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found this week, or feel free to stop by the school to look through the items. As a friendly reminder, labeling your child’s clothing with their name helps us return items directly to their owner.
· December 16-20: Student Spirit Week · December 20: Last Day of School · December 23 - January 3: Winter Break - No School · January 6: Classes Resume!
Gratitude Overflowing: A Thank You to Our Amazing PHS Community The Panorama Hills School staff would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible parents and community members who made our very successful Parent-Teacher Interview evening extra special. Your thoughtful contributions of food and treats filled our hearts with appreciation. The diverse array of dishes was a true reflection of the vibrant, inclusive community we are privileged to be part of. From savory to sweet, the meals and snacks kept our teachers energized as they connected with families to discuss student growth and achievements. Your kindness and support remind us how fortunate we are to work in partnership with such a dedicated and generous community. Thank you for going above and beyond to show your appreciation—it does not go unnoticed and is deeply valued by all of us at PHS. Together, we are creating a school environment where everyone feels cared for and supported. Thank you for being an essential part of the PHS family! Scott & Vicky |
